BABIN'S CABINETS

about us

QUALITY WORK WITH QUALITY PRODUCTS IS HOW WE DO BUSINESS.

We only use select and better lumber for our cabinets and wood products.  We cut the lumber when we pull it; we try to make sure the wood is the same color through out that cabinet set.  Although we don’t have control of the grain of the wood we do try to get the color pretty close.  We work around any imperfections in the wood like knots or stains unless the customer requests that look.  We’ve had many customers tell us they felt like they were treated like someone special compared to being treated like they were a bother.  Some have told us we were the only subs that came in when we said we would be there.

In 2004 we purchased a CNC router to manufacture our MDF paint grade cabinet doors.  This purchase has become very beneficial to the cabinet side by being able to get paint grade cabinets out faster.  We also manufacture MDF doors for several of the local area cabinet shops.  With 2-3 day delivery, locally, this becomes economical for them to get MDF doors without having to build or sand them and their ready to install on their cabinets.

We believe in communicating with our customers and making sure they know to communicate with us.  Knowing what they want and getting it for them.

BABIN'S CABINETS

our history

BABIN'S CABINET WORKS, INC. ORIGINALLY STARTED IN 1971 as a part-time job by two brothers, Stanley and Melvin Babin. Their unique style, craftsmanship and love of the work soon resulted in the decision to leave their respective jobs and therefore they created Babin’s Cabinet Works in 1973.

Over three decades later, Babin’s Cabinet Works, Inc., is still a family owned and operated business. There is one second generation owner and several second generation employees working here today.

THE CABINET SHOP HISTORY

THE CABINET SHOP WAS STARTED BY STANLEY BABIN AND MELVIN BABIN.

Stanely Babin worked at Highland Construction and Millworks for 12 years and Melvin Babin worked there for 7 years before going on their own.  Stanley passed away in 1992 and Melvin is still working here at the shop. Brady has his dads half of the shop and learned from his dad in the summers and when he graduated he worked here after.

Both brothers were from St. Amant, lived and raised in the same yard the shop is in now.

Many of their Uncles were carpenters and built houses in their day.

INTRODUCING ENTRY DOORS

SEVERAL OF OUR CABINET CONTRACTORS COMPLAINED TO US about having to go out of the local area to get custom entry doors.  They had to wait three months and longer for a custom door.   They knew our reputation for quality, attention to detail and service and knew we had the ability and skills to build a good door.

We thought about it for a long time and thought if we’re going to do it lets do it so we added on and started the door section.

We knew we had to put someone with dedication to the company and excellent woodworking skills to start a new business.  So in 2004 we picked our two best workers, Wade Babin and Chase Prettelt to head up the entry door section. Although young Wade has been working at Babin’s Cabinet Works with his dad, Melvin, since he was 13.  After graduating he has worked here in several sections of the cabinet shop, he installed cabinets with his dad until we put him in the door section.  Wade has learned so much from his dad about producing a quality product.   Chase has been with us for eight years, he started building cabinets doors and was one of our best door guys we’ve ever had. His attention to exact measurements and construction on our cabinet doors was beneficial to us because we had fewer mistakes in the cabinet door department.
